Wesley Epperson

Wesley Brown Epperson, 95, of Ringgold went home to be with our Lord and Savior on October 19, 2017. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was the oldest charter member.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He landed on Omaha beach where he fought in Normandy, The Battle of the Bulge and served all throughout Europe while being part of the 752nd Engineers.
Wes grew up working on Autos and was employed by dealerships throughout Chattanooga before opening his own business in Fort Oglethorpe as Epperson’s Paint and Auto Body where he retired from in 2008.
He led an active life being involved in local politics, where he served as Ga. State chairman of the United Party; and served as President of the Optimist Club in 1982.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Vivian Epperson; parents, Rev. and Mrs. Elga Epperson; brothers, Elga Jr. and Julian Epperson; sister, Imogene Douglas.
Survivors include one sister, Elizabeth Wilson, Ringgold; daughters, Leslie (Kevin) Biddle, Ringgold, Cindy Fowler, Rossville, Gwen (John) Collins, Elliston, VA, and Jackie Clark, Chattanooga; along with one son, Jeff (Kimberly) Steele. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held 12 Noon, Monday, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Steve Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors provided by the VVA 203.
