Gilbert Wade Green, Jr., 84, passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2021 after a valiant battle with cancer. Wade was born in Kingston, TN on October 28, 1937 to the late Gilbert “Bud” Wade Green, Sr. and Stella Mae Green. Upon graduating from Central High School, Wade attended the University of Tennessee where he played the saxophone in the marching band. After serving 4 years as a commissioned officer in the United States Navy, Wade attended UT Law School. He was a well respected attorney and prosecutor and then a federal judge. He was a member of The Chattanooga Bar Association and The Federal Administrative Law Judges Association. Wade was a member of the Chattanooga Ski Club for many years. He enjoyed traveling, was an avid reader, loved woodworking, and he was a man very close to God. He attended Christ United Methodist Church in Chattanooga. He had a great sense of humor and many wonderful friends who loved him dearly. His family and friends hold him in the highest esteem. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his cousins on his father’s side: Ray (Von) Green, Pate Alley, Delton Alley, Dean Marlor, Cleo White, Barbara Poole and Benny Poole; as well as cousins on his mother’s side: Freda (Paul) Anderson, Vicki Hayes, Boyd Anderson, Amy Anderson, Nancy (Les) Ratchford, Susan (Bruce) Hargis, Dixie (Amos) Flint and Kathy (Larry) Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Monday in the funeral home chapel with Reverend David Hall officiating. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South with military honors.
