Virginia Louise Black, 96, of Fort Oglethorpe passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2021. She was born on July 31, 1924 in Marion, Indiana to the late Roland and Cora Mae Moran and had lived in North Georgia for the past 56 years. She was a member at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church. She was a staunch supporter of the Pro-Life movement and loved sewing, painting and kept a daily journal for more than 40 years.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Lawrence Black and her son, Tim Black.
Survivors include her sons, Dan (Linda) Black, Tom (Gail) Black and Jody Black; daughters, Nan Mann and Suzzanne (Ron) Cantrell; sister, Mary Bales; 14 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday at St. Gerard Catholic Church with Father Mike Nolan officiating. Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
