Virginia Howington Black, 71, of Ringgold, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2019. Virginia was born December 17, 1947, in Chattanooga, to the late Arthur and Ruth Howington. She was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga, North Georgia area and of the Baptist faith. Virginia worked as a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service in Dalton and Ringgold and retired after 15 years. In her free time she enjoyed dancing, quilting, sewing, crocheting, and making ceramics. She is preceded in death by her brother Ronald Howington and sister, Helen Harris.
Survivors are her sons, Stephen (Tonya) McKinney, Summerville, Brian (Dawn) McKinney, Dayton; sister, Joyce (Jim) Denton, Chattanooga; brother, Eddie (Judy) Howington, Birchwood; grandchildren, Taylor (Spencer) Hogg, Jacob & Bailey McKinney, and Jillian & Caleb McKinney; great-grandson, Branson Hogg; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Virginia will take place 11 AM, Wednesday, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bob Schafer officiating. Interment will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park.
