It is with great sadness that the family of Vernon Edward Willingham, Sr., 90, of Rossville announces his passing on October 25, 2020. He was an Elder at the Ridgedale Church of Christ, a 30 year Veteran of the United States Marine Corps who served in the Korean War and retired from U.S. Pipe.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Beulah and Albert Willingham; brothers, Kenneth Willingham and Clarence Spurling.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jimmie Willingham; daughter, Mary Willingham (Richard) Yarbrough; son, Vernon “Eddie” Edward (Christine) Willingham, Jr.; grandchildren, Michael Shadwick, Mandy Willingham Smith and Janey Stott; six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Jewell Pomeroy and Joyce (Jim) Beasley; along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 12:30 PM, Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Ken Willis and Minister Paul Stidham officiating. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery at 2 PM, Wednesday.
