Tribute

Vernon Ronald Barnes AKA “Tennessee Rooster”, 76, of Graysville went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 21, 2020. He was born March 9th, 1944 to the late Joe and Mildred Dockery Barnes in Athens, TN. He was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area and was a member of Falling Water Baptist Tabernacle. He worked as a Counter Salesman for 48 years with Wholesale Supply. He assisted with the Special Olympics for 42 years as the Tennessee Rooster.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 40 years Betty Lepley Barnes; brothers, Jack and Jim Barnes; grandchildren, Alex Belcher and David Reynolds; nephews, Randy and Paul Dodson; nieces, Jackie Lynn and Sherri Barnes; special friend, Cindy Campbell.

Survivors include his daughters, Tina (Ronnie) Reynolds, Stacy (Billy) Belcher, Robin Clark, Tammy Hendrickson and Kim Fryar; grandkids, Brittany, Gina, Todd, Michael, Billy Allen, Eddie, Becca, Lee, Joy, Peyton, Vickie, Vernon, Wendy, Ronnie, Jacob and Julie; sisters, Margie (Harry) Harmon, Jo Ann (Dan) Snider; special family, Jonathan Duncan; several nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.

Family will receive friends for a staggered visitation 10 – 1:30 PM, Saturday at Heritage Funeral Home & Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.
