Susan Morris, 61, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 8, 2018 in Homestead, FL while on vacation.  She passed away with her husband of 38 years, Johnny Morris. She was born in Ringgold, GA. Susan was one of 3 siblings.  Growing up she enjoyed being active in the youth group with her sister Becky.  Later Susan enjoyed working at the now Martha Denton pool with her mother, Martha. 

Susan met her husband, Johnny, at Georgia Southern while in college and was married soon after. Susan was a teacher for 29 years, most of those years at Graysville Elementary. She was a loving, kind, and thoughtful teacher, often going above and beyond to show Christ’s love to her students. After she retired, Susan used her God-given gifts to continue to serve others. She volunteered weekly at Choice’s Pregnancy Resource Center, helped serve meals at Patton towers, and taught Good News Club at Boynton Elementary. She also loved and cared for many family members on her few days off. Susan is preceded in death by her parents Doyle and Billie Petty and Martha and Grover Denton.

Survivors include her son, Matthew (Betty) Morris; her sister, Becky (Bert) McNew and brother, Gary (Judy) Petty; along with three grandsons, Levi, Noah and Samuel; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Wednesday at Woodland Park Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Frick officiating. Interment will follow in Anderson Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends 4-8 PM Tuesday, and 1 hour prior to the service Wednesday.  Both days of visitation will be at Woodland Park Baptist Church.
