Susan Marie Hartline passed away at her home July 8th, 2020 following her fight with lung cancer.
She was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 8th, 1952 to Dale and Dorothy Scott.
Sue was a dedicated Marion Environmental employee for 26 years. She faced her cancer diagnosis head on and worked and traveled
between treatments. As senior accountant, she was tenacious about getting complex projects billed correctly and often referred to as “Sherlock” due to her uncanny ability to find obscure omissions on field reports. She loved her Marion family and took her responsibilities very seriously.
Sue was always full of life with her Parrot Head Club, casino trips, and cruises. Sue was a founding member and long-time president of the River City Parrot Head Club for several years and as part of the Club’s public service efforts, she participated in many community service projects. She loved all types of music and trivia challenges.
Her pride and joy were her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she adored. In her last years she took trips with her granddaughters and arranged a family reunion. Her children and grandchildren were always close to her heart. Her life was centered around her family and her friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Hartline, fiancé Jay Swisher, her parents, her sister Patti and brother-in-law Walter Harris, her sister-in-law and dear friend Shannon Heiss, her brother Allen and her sisters-in-law Lynnette and Sandy Scott. She is survived by her brothers, Randy Scott of Dubois, PA, and Don (Debbie) Scott of Warren, Ohio, children DeAnna (Brian) Zoleske of Eagle River, AK, Sarah Fry, Shreve, OH, Christopher Hartline and his fiancé Amanda Bundy of Ringgold, GA, Jill (Dewayne) Ponds of Harrison, TN, and Katie Swisher of Knoxville, TN.
Also, to cherish her memories are her 13 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson, friends, cousins, nieces, and nephews as well as all the other strays she took in over the years. She would never turn anyone away.
Sue was greatly admired and will be missed.
Our family would like to express our deep appreciation for Ellen Gallant and the entire Marion Environmental family for being so supportive and caring over the years, especially in these last years as Sue battled this disease.
There will be no viewing and no public service. A private celebration with close family and friends will be held at a later date. Care is entrusted to Heritage Funeral Home in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia.
