Stuman Peters, 84, of Ringgold went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at his home. He was born on March 24, 1937 to the late Ernest and Ella Peters in Ringgold, Georgia. He attended Ringgold High School, Class of 1958, then attended Walker Tech. Stuman had served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years where he was stationed in San Diego and on the Aircraft Carrier “USS Hornet CVA-12”. Stuman retired from DuPont after 36 years of service and also retired from Southern Auto Body after 21 years of service. He had served as a Deacon for many years and was currently a member at Ridgedale Baptist Church. Mr. Peters was a member of the Gideons. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved to garden.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond, Harold, Clyde, Alvin and Kenneth; and his sisters, Lois Brock, Gladys Mays, Ruth McGowan and Barbara Schild.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Barbara Caylor Peters; daughters, Sheila (David) Thompson and Lisa Peters; grandsons, Matthew (Rebekah) Thompson and Joshua (Kristin) Thompson and one great grandson on the way. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A private family funeral service will be held at Ridgedale Baptist Church with Pastor Doug Plumlee and Luther Eslinger officiating. Interment will follow at Anderson Memorial Gardens.
