Sherry Simeone

June 4, 1941 ~ October 7, 2017 (age 76) 76 Years Old

Sherry Ann (Coogler) Simeone passed away October 7, 2017.in a local hospital while surrounded by caregivers and dear friends.  Born June 14, 1941 in Chattanooga, Sherry led a long and interesting life.  Based in New York City, she was an international flight attendant and flight attendant trainer for Eastern Airlines.  She met and married Italian recording artist, restaurant and Discotheque owner Carlo (Porti) Simeone.  They lived large together in Acapulco, Mexico entertaining celebrities such as Frank Sinatra, Clint Eastwood and many others.

 

In the 1970’s she and Carlo moved back to Chattanooga in part to care for Sherry’s aging mother, Ruth Coogler.  Sherry was active in the Cocker Spaniel Club of Chattanooga and showed several of her cockers in competition.  Sherry ran the Chattanooga election office for Governor Ned McWherter (4) and went on to become the Southeast Tennessee Regional Supervisor for the Tennessee Depart ment of Tourist Development, a position she held for many years.  When her husband, Carlo passed away in fall 2006, Sherry moved to her current home in Rossville, Georgia.  For many years, Sherry’s constant companion was her beloved chocolate cocker, “Morganite”.  Sherry is survived by her second cousin William Dale Watson III, Memphis Tennessee.  Sherry will be interred without ceremony at Chattanooga Memorial Park, Red Bank, alongside her mother Ruth and husband Carlo.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4355 Hwy 58, Chattanooga, TN  37416 for their unwavering assistance with both Sherry and previously with Carlo.  Arrangements by Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway.
