Ruth Patrick – Born November 3, 1930 – May 17, 2018 (87 Years Old) Chattanooga, TN
Ruth Garland Patrick, 87, of Chattanooga went home to be with the Lord Thursday, May 17, 2018.
Ruth was born and raised in Memphis, but lived most of her life in the Chattanooga area. She graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a B.S. degree in education and was a lifelong member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. Ruth was a member of the Brainerd United Methodist Church and the Brainerd United Methodist Women. She taught for more than 20 years in the Catoosa County school system and the Chattanooga city school system. Ruth loved arranging flowers and gardening and was a member of the National Foundation of Garden Clubs. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ruth was preceded in death by her loving husband, Frank Hopkins Patrick of Chattanooga; her parents, William Eustace and Myrtle Martin Garland of Memphis, her sister, Loretta Pantella of Memphis; a grandson, Eric Christopher Shipley of Chattanooga; and a son-in-law, Harold Glenn Shipley of Chattanooga.
Survivors include her children, daughter Elaine Shipley of Chattanooga, son Mike Patrick and his wife Anita of Ringgold, GA, a daughter Melissa White and her husband Gary of Chattanooga and a daughter Jennifer Williams and her husband Greg of Fort Worth, TX; a sister, Vivian Kinton of Myrtle Beach, SC; 10 grandchildren, Meaghan Wear, Jessica and her husband Justin Hicks, Ashley and her husband Nathan Fugate, Rebecca and her husband Jared Lewis, Kara Patrick, Patrick and his wife Kitty Williams, Courtney Patrick, Ben Williams, Matthew and his wife Emma Williams, and Perrin Williams; 5 great-grandchildren; Samuel, Briley, Lucas, Jaxon and Emory, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends during the visitation on Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 4-8 pm at The Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory, Battlefield Parkway, Fort Oglethorpe, GA.
A memorial service will be held Monday, May 21, 2018 at 11 am in the chapel at The Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory, Battlefield Parkway, Fort Oglethorpe, GA.
Interment will be at the Chattanooga National Cemetery at 1200 Bailey Avenue, Chattanooga, TN.
