Robert "Bob" F Clemmons

Robert “Bob” F. Clemmons, 80, of Fort Oglethorpe, died Thursday, April 05, 2018.  Robert was a resident of Fort Oglethorpe for over 50 years and was of the Catholic faith.  He was a son of the late James and Virginia Clemmons-Rigsby and born and raised in Wilmington, NC.  Robert served in the U.S. Army and retired after 12 years as a Staff Sergeant.  He served in the Vietnam War where he was awarded the Bronze Star, two Purple Hearts and received his CIB. Robert was a Freemason and member of Tompkins Lodge #466.  He is preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Laura Mae Clemmons who was the love of his life; and sister, Dottie Clemmons.

Survivors are his son, Robert (Angela) Clemmons, Rossville; daughter, Victoria (Billy) Riddle, Chickamauga; grandchildren, William (Ashley) Mathew, Fort Oglethorpe, Keyoda Hall, Lafayette, Dana Clemmons, Rossville; brothers, Frank Clemmons, Wilmington, NC, Bobo Clemmons, Louisiana, Joe Clemmons, Fort Oglethorpe, Johnny Rigsby, Chattanooga, Oscar “Bookie” Rigsby, Florida; sister, Deloris, Florida; great-grandchild, Gabe De Leon-Roldan, Lafayette; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Kristie Hardin of Peace For You for her care and compassion taking care of Bob Clemmons.

Funeral services will be 2 PM, Monday, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Lamar Walker and Colin Crosen officiating. 

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Vietnam Veterans group of the Chattanooga Vet Center.
