Raymond Earl Mitchell

Raymond Earl Mitchell, 85, of Fort Oglethorpe, went home to be with the Lord Monday March 11, 2019 in a local hospital.

Mr. Mitchell was born September 17, 1933 a son of the late William Earl and Mary Ruth Hise Mitchell. Raymond has been a lifelong resident of the North Georgia area. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served his country with honor and distinction. Raymond was co-owner of Tennessee Automotive for more than 20 years. He was a member of Cloud Springs Baptist Church for 60 years and was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class where he was well known for giving M&M’s to the children.

He was preceded in death by a sister, June Alford.

Survivors are his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Nell Mitchell; brothers, James and Freddy Mitchell; sisters, Sue Parson, Margaret Ann Mitchell and Dorothy Coley; along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bill Gardner officiating. Interment will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.
