O.C. Jolley, Jr.

O.C. Jolley of Ringgold, GA passed away at home on June 1, 2019, at the age of 87, surrounded by his family. Immediately, he was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus, where he will spend eternity with his heavenly Father. He was preceded in death by his parents, O. C. Jolley, Sr. and Willie Mae Dorsey Jolley.

Born November 24, 1931, in Chattanooga, TN, he was raised on a large farm in Chickamauga, GA, and graduated from Gordon Lee High School. In later years, he earned an Associate's Degree from the University of Chicago.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Joan W. Jolley, and children: Clint (Doris) McInnes of Greenwood, SC; Belinda (Rick) Glenn of Chattanooga; and Dan (Tracy) Jolley of Ringgold. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Lucy McInnes of Indiana, PA; Joe McInnes of Greenwood, SC; Elizabeth Jolley of Ft. Oglethorpe; and Rose Brown of Chattanooga.

O.C. was a very active member of Ringgold First Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Boaz class. He served as a deacon and for many years as a volunteer with the Building and Grounds Committee, maintaining the church property. He also enjoyed woodworking and picture framing.

He served in the U. S. Army Infantry, attached to Eilson Air Force Base near Fairbanks, Alaska, 1954-1956. He was a radio teletype operator in the Signal Corps and was Top Marksman in the unit.

From the 1960s to the 1980s, O. C. volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America. He served from the time his sons were Cub Scouts until they earned the rank of Eagle Scout.

O. C. spent his working career first with Dupont and then with Conoco at their southeastern subsidiary, located in Chattanooga. From there he was promoted to the home office in Houston, TX, from where he retired.

A visitation will be held 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. on June 8th at Ringgold First Baptist Church, followed by the funeral service at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Eric Kennedy officiating.
