Nancy Lee Alonso

January 9, 1931 ~ April 11, 2021 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Tribute

Nancy Lee Alonso, 90, of Fort Oglethorpe went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at her home. She lived most of her life in the North Georgia area and was a member of the Ringgold Church of Christ. She worked for Dr. William Crawley and was part owner of Plain and Fancy Bakery and Sweet Apple Tea Room in Fort Oglethorpe. Mrs. Alonso was a Para Professional and Volunteer at Ft. Oglethorpe and Ringgold Elementary Schools.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, John Alonso.

"Nanny" dedicated her life to taking care of her family and so many others. Generations remember her in an abundance of wonderful ways; from making students cry as she read  Where the Red Fern Grows, teaching others about the "loaves and fishes" in Sunday school, to her later years with the cooking class in the RES Paws and Claws after school program. No one left her presence hungry. She fed handymen and gardeners who visited her home and healthcare professionals during her appointments. She was well known for her cinnamon rolls which to this day no one has been able to duplicate.  Her family has been blessed beyond measure by her loving care and will strive to continue her legacy of service.

Survivors include her son, David Alonso, Cape Canaveral, Fla.; daughters, Denise (Mike) Lusk, Melody (Dan) Nichols, Ringgold, Robin (Bo) Coshatt, Birmingham; sister, Peggy Escobio, St. Petersburg, FL; grandchildren, Carrie Brisendine, Chris Lusk, Cristin Lusk, Caitlin Martin, Lauren Athas, Lindsay D’Agostino, Caleigh Coshatt and Chandler Coshatt; eight great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Mike Lusk, Dan Nichols and Chris Lusk officiating. Interment will be at 11 AM on Friday at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.
