Marvin “Gene” Hughes, 85 of Ringgold went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday. In 1972 Gene made Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior. On May 9, 2017 God said “Well done, my good and faithful servant”, as He wrapped Gene in his loving arms and took him to his eternal home. Gene wants everyone to know that he is resting in God’s perfect peace while waiting to meet you there. He served in the United States Army achieving the rank of Sargent with the 82nd airborne.

Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Peggy Hughes; sons, Randy (Cynthia) Hughes, Gary Hughes, Darrell (Lori) Hughes, Doug (Sharon) Sampley, and Jeff Sampley; daughter, Donna (Tim) Wood; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 12:30 PM Monday at Temple Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Rushing, Pastor Bruce Wyatt, and Pastor David Stancil officiating. The body will lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.  

Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
