Margaret Himes Lifsey
November 26, 1943 ~ September 6, 2023 (age 79) 79 Years Old
Margaret Himes Lifsey, 79, of Chattanooga, passed away on September 6, 2023. She was born in St. Petersburg, FL, a daughter of the late Edwin and Margaret Anderson Himes. She lived much of her life in Chattanooga. She graduated from Boca Ciega HS in St. Petersburg and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Magna Cum Laude, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Music. A longtime employee of the UT College of Medicine, she was an administrative assistant and a Certified Professional Secretary.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her three brothers and one sister. Survivors include her loving husband of 45 years, Thomas W. Lifsey of Chattanooga; daughter Teresa (Terri) Lynn Turner (Mitchel) of Sale Creek, TN; daughter Sarah F. Lifsey (Marie Lawson) of Mt. Rainier, MD; son Sidney T. Lifsey of Chattanooga; grandsons Ryan Turner (Heather Silva) of Dayton, TN and Preston Turner of Bakewell, TN; two great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A longtime member of Grace Episcopal Church, she served on the Vestry and sang in the choir. She also performed with the Chattanooga Bach Choir.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 24th at Grace Episcopal Church, 20 Belvoir Avenue, 2:30 PM in the Bishop Barth Room, followed by the service in the Nave at 4:00 PM, and conclude in the Memorial Garden, with the Rev. April Berends officiating.
A loving and caring person, she graced everyone’s presence with her quick laugh, warm singing voice, and words of wisdom. All who knew her will miss her.
