Lila Jean Adams Mears, 93, of Rossville passed away at home on July 29th, 2020 with her daughter and granddaughter by her side. She was born in Chattanooga on September 7th, 1926, a daughter of the late George Neal and Josephine Payne Adams. She was a life-long resident of the North Georgia area and a member of the Fort Oglethorpe First Baptist Church where she loved her work at the church as she served as head of the Building and Grounds Committee. She was retired from South Central Bell after more than 40 years of service and was a life member of The Telephone Pioneers. She was a member of the Bentley Place Community Club. Mrs. Mears enjoyed travelling with Clark Bus Tours and loved her cat, Rascall.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clifford LeRoy Mears.
Survivors include her loving daughter, Joy (David) Lyle, of Ellijay, GA; sister, Ruby Joanna Adams and her loving granddaughter, Melody Renee’ Lyle, of Woodstock, GA; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be 1 PM Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. John Wyatt officiating. The family requests that everyone attending the funeral service wear a mask and practice social distancing. Interment will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.
