John Ellis Marcus, 88, of Ringgold went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday morning, March 15, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. Born September 20th, 1930 in Greensboro, Georgia, he was a veteran of the Korean War in the U.S. Navy. He was saved by grace in 1966. He faithfully served the Lord as a singer, choir director and Sunday School teacher. His faith in God and love for his fellow man knew no bounds. To know him, was to love him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Adam and Mary Connell Marcus; son, Keith Allen Marcus and brother, Ed Marcus, Jr.
Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Faye Brock Marcus; sons, Kevin (Debbie) Marcus and Kenny (Pam) Marcus; daughter, Katrina (Rick) Wolfe; grandchildren, Tarah (Kenny) Gallman, Ethan Coker, Lauren Marcus, Brandon Wolfe, Heath Marcus and Garrett Marcus; six great-grandchildren; sister, Sybil Payne; along with many other family members.
Funeral services will be 3 PM Sunday at Catoosa Baptist Tabernacle with Pastor Justin Gazaway and Bro. Isaac Johns officiating. The body will lie-in-state from 1:30 PM until service time at the church on Sunday. Interment will follow in New Hope Cemetery.
