Julius O. Baker, Jr., 84, of Chickamauga passed away peacefully Friday, March 13, 2020. He was born February 6, 1936 in Rossville to the late Julius “Preach” and Eva “Pita” Baker. Johnny was a lifelong resident of the North Georgia area and member of the First Baptist Church of Chickamauga. He was instrumental in the building of Rossville’s World of Wonder Playground. He served as councilman and 3 terms as Mayor of Rossville. He retired from Coca Cola after 41 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 58 years Paula Ruth Baker.
Survivors include his loving wife Sylbia Baker; children, Debra (Matt) Steinmann, Wayne (Beth) Baker and John (Judy) Baker; brother, Robert L. (Betty) Baker; grandchildren, Callan, Mariel, Hayden and Jake; and 1 great-grandchild, Luke.
A memorial service will be held 2 PM, Monday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Darrell Henry and Rev. Bernie Miller officiating.
