Tribute

John Price Parker, 86, of Fort Oglethorpe, went home to be with the his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 3, 2019.  John was born October 11, 1932, in Walker County, GA, to the late James and Eula Parker.  He was a lifelong resident of the north Georgia area and was a member of Cloud Springs Baptist Church where he loved and served for many years.  John was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War.  He retired from Met Life Insurance Company.

John was known by several names, J.P., Cotton, and friend.  He absolutely loved riding his motorcycle and fishing for big bass, both brought him great joy.  He was a great friend and comfort to all who had the privilege of knowing him and they all knew how he loved to laugh and enjoy life.  He was also serious and caring when needed. 

John is preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Evelyn Parker, who passed away in January of this year; and siblings, Mary Lawrence, Lola Parker, and Henry Parker.

John is survived by several nephews and nieces who loved him very much.

Services celebrating the life of John Parker will take place Wednesday, 11 AM, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bill Gardner officiating.  Interment will be in Center Point Cemetery, Noble, GA.

There are many who deserve much thanks for loving and caring for John and Evelyn Parker.  Ron Stephens who rode cycles with him throughout the U.S. Ron and his wife Elizabeth are like family.  If you have Ron for a friend, you truly have a friend indeed.  Bro. Bill Gardner for his love and guidance as their pastor.  The staff of Rosewood who cared for them during their time there.  Karen Ottway who held a special place in their hearts.  All who read this and know that you touched and were touched by them riding, fishing, cooking, and just doing life with them.  Thank you from all the family.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, 2-4 & 6-8 PM, at Heritage Funeral Home & Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.
