Tribute

Annie Jo Cobb Cochran was born July 2, 1924 in Candler County, Georgia. She graduated high school at the age of 15 and attended Georgia State College for Women (GSCW) and the University of Georgia where she met medical student and future husband, Thomas Andrew (Bill) Cochran. Dr. Cochran served in the U.S. Army in Little Rock, Arkansas where their son, Butch and daughter Gaye were born. After completing military duty they moved to Ringgold where Dr. Cochran started his medical practice. Son Randy was also added to the family. They were members of Ringgold First Baptist Church where Jo has been active for over seventy years and was always ready to do any task asked of her including teaching, organizing, preparing and distributing food and singing in the choir. She served as secretary of WMU and served on the library board. She was a member of the garden club and medical auxiliary and was a volunteer at Hutcheson Hospital which her husband, Doctor Cochran helped to establish in the early 1950's. In later years, she enjoyed traveling, activities with friends, and social activities such as book club and bunco parties. She loved people, especially her children, grand children, and great grand children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth Hendrix Cobb and Perry Cobb. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Dr. Thomas Andrew (Bill) Cochran and son Dr. Thomas Andrew (Butch) Cochran, Jr. of Columbus, Georgia. She is survived by children Gaye (Bill) Smith, Randy (Donna) Cochran, grand children Tripp Smith, Steffaney McInerney, Kendall Cochran, Chris Cochran, Kevin Cochran, Reagan Cochran, Brynn Cochran, and Will Cochran. Also, great grand children Anna Smith, Elise Smith, Emily McInerney, Thomas Andrew McInerney, and Case Cochran . She is also survived by brothers Perry Cobb and Berrian Cobb, and sister Lucille Bishop.

Funeral services will be held 3:30 PM Friday at First Baptist Church of Ringgold with Rev. Eric Kennedy and Rev. Bruce Sloan officiating. Interment in Anderson Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends 2:30 - 3:30 Friday at First Baptist Church of Ringgold.
