Jim Arthur Amburn

James “Jim” Arthur Amburn, 83, of Fort Oglethorpe went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at his home. He was born on June 2, 1937 to the late Joseph and Nora Myrtle Amburn. Jim helped build and was a charter member of the Battlefield Parkway Church of the Nazarene. He was a long time employee of Combustion Engineering and retired from Westinghouse after 50 years of service. His grandchildren, whom he loved to spend time with and tell stories lovingly knew him as “Papa”.
 
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kim Amburn; and siblings, Ernestine Snyder, Charles Amburn, Hartsell Amburn, Bill Amburn, Eddie Amburn and Wayne Amburn.
 
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Bobbie Amburn; daughter, Cindy (Cliff) Higgins; grandchildren, Katie (Josh) Preston and Andrew Higgins; brothers, Floyd (Gay) Amburn and Clyde (Linda) Amburn; sisters, Wanda (Allen) McCulley, Josie (Wayne) Currier, Jean and Jane Amburn; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
 
Funeral services will be 1 PM Thursday at the Battlefield Parkway Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Joe Brown officiating. The body will lie-in-state an hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.
