Jeremy Michael Brooks

Jeremy Michael Brooks, 44, of Chattanooga, TN, passed away on February 07, 2021. Jeremy was born at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, TN to Sandra Goodner Johnson and John Michael Brooks on February 13, 1976 and overcame seemingly insurmountable medical obstacles to live a blessed, healthy and happy life. He graduated from Lakeview Fort Oglethorpe High School in 1995, and from University of West Georgia in 2004 with a BA in Art with a concentration in photography. He married Shelly Melinda Jones Brooks on July 28, 2007 and they adopted their son Grayson James Brooks in 2013. Jeremy worked as a graphic designer for over 15 years, most recently with Chattanooga Shooting Supplies, Inc. Jeremy will be remembered as a whiskey drinking, cigar smoking, quiet, snarky, creative, introspective, hair band loving, gun toting, pig slaughtering, foodie who would always try something once.

Jeremy is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, JW and Ruth Brooks, uncle William (Bill) Brooks, and his maternal grandfather who raised him, James Kenneth Goodner. Jeremy is survived by his wife Shelly Melinda (Jones) Brooks, son Grayson James Brooks, maternal grandmother who raised Jeremy, Betty Jean Goodner, mother Sandra Goodner Johnson, father John Michael Brooks (Sheila), brothers John Chrstopher Brooks, and Johnny Tedder (wife Ashley, children Alyssa, Jaxson, & Jayson), his sisters Tracie (Brooks) Hicks, (husband Jeremy and daughter Lincoln), and Patricia (Brooks) Harter, (husband Joseph and son Tristan) as well as countless friends, many of whom considered family.

Pallbearers will be Matt Pickett, Jon Pickett, John Varnon, Todd Harless, Travis Lane, Brian Crew, Shawn Narinesingh, and Justin Nave.

Visitation will be 4pm-8pm, Wednesday, February 10, 2021 and 12pm-2pm Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Heritage Funeral Home Battlefield Parkway, Fort Oglethorpe, GA.

Funeral services will be held 2pm, Thursday, February 11, 2021 in the chapel at Heritage Funeral Home with Mike Jones of Columbus GA, Andy Atkinson of Fort Oglethorpe, GA and Grady Booth of First Baptist Lynn Haven officiating. Burial will follow at McIntyre Cemetery, Rock Springs GA.

The family of Jeremy Brooks’ wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses of Memorial Hospital and Emory University Hospital Cardiac Care Unit. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jeremy Brooks’ memory to the Ronald McDonald House.
