J.L. Smith, 86, of Chickamauga went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 31, 2021. He was heavily involved in the Boy Scouts and Explorers and a member of the Boynton Lions Club. Mr. Smith was an avid photographer and gardener. He served in the U.S. Army for 6 years during the Korean War. He enjoyed trout fishing, hunting and canoeing.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Geneva Smith and his nine brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his sons Michael J. (Carylon) Smith of Chickamauga, Marcus Dale Smith of Dahlonega, GA, and Robert Alan Smith of Ringgold, daughter Constance Leigh Smith of Lafayette and grandchildren Jarret, John, Derrick, Col, Angela, Amanda, and Andrea, and several great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at the Burning Bush Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Keith McLeod officiating.
