Helen Gray Palmer, 92, of Flintstone, Georgia, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019.
She was a founding member of Hope Fellowship Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Chickamauga, Georgia. Active at that church and others previously, she served faithfully and quietly, hosting Bible studies, cooking and arranging meals for church members and serving as a youth group leader with her late husband.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, James Henry Palmer and her parents, Benjamin and Ethel Gray. She is survived by a daughter Lisa (Phil) Talley of Flintstone, Georgia, a grandson, Daniel (Dena) Talley also of Flintstone, great grandchildren Annika, Kate and Luke, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. For many years she delighted in cooking for her family, and they despair of ever making homemade rolls as good as hers.
A memorial worship service will be held Thursday, April 25 at 4 p.m. at Hope Fellowship Evangelical Presbyterian Church located at the corner of Highway 27 South and Twin Cedars Road in Chickamauga. The Rev. Mark Gregory and the Rev. Michael Thomas will officiate. Visitation will follow the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hope Fellowship Building Fund (P.O. Box 1, Chickamauga, GA 30707) or to the Salvation Army of Chattanooga (822 McCallie Ave., Chattanooga, TN, 37403). Arrangements are made by Heritage Funeral Home of Fort Oglethorpe.
