Gwendolyn Brown Jennings, 87, of Ringgold went home to be with her Lord on Monday, September 30, 2019. She was a life-long resident of Catoosa County and an 80 year member of Burning Bush Baptist Church where she was a member of the Primetime Choir, Young at Heart and the Christine Garnett Mission Group. She was a daughter of the late Thomas and Atlas Marckum Brown. Gwen was President of the Ringgold High School Class of 1949. She was employed at Citizens Savings & Loan and retired from Lakeview High School as Cafeteria Manager.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Bettye Brown.
Survivors include her loving husband of 63 years, Johnny Jennings; son, Brent Jennings; granddaughters, Ashley (Curtiss) Elizabeth Harris, Cassandra Anne Jennings and Hollie (Joshua) Sarah Skates; great-grandchildren, Krymsin Elizabeth Harris, Johnathan William Curtiss Harris, Jasen Wayne Skates, Jackson Lewis Skates and Haven Leigh Harris; foster sister, Debbie Crowe.
Funeral services will be held 1 PM Thursday at Burning Bush Baptist Church with Rev. John Walden and Rev. Chris Hobbs officiating. The body will lie-in-state from 10-1 PM Thursday at the church. Interment will follow in the Burning Bush Baptist Church Cemetery with Jim Powell officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Ringgold High School Class of 1949, Primetime Choir, Young at Heart, Julia Graham, Shay Love and Staff, Trustees of the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home and Gleens Joyful Class.
