George Clifford Winton Jr., 85, of Lafayette, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. George was a resident of Lafayette for the past 17 years. He was born October 30, 1934, in Beloit, Wisconsin to the late George Winton Sr. and Ruth Phillips Winton. George was extremely patriotic and proud of his country the United States of America. He served in both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy, fought in the Vietnam War, and retired after 24 years of service. After retiring from the military he had a second career as an operations manager working for Tau-tron retiring after 20 years.
George loved the ocean, he enjoyed sports especially football and tennis, and he enjoyed maintaining his fitness. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife. Over the course of their lives they moved 27 times.
George is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Eve Winton, children, Beth (Jim) Rearden, Lisa (Pat) Street, Tamara Parker (Roger Lowe), Scott (Laura) Winton, Jon (Tracy) Winton, 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Cass and son, Jeffrey S. Winton.
Memorial contributions may be made to Doctors Without Borders in honor of George Winton Jr.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate and honor the life of George Winton Jr.
