George Duey Steele, Jr.

George Duey Steele, Jr., 78, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 7, 2019. He was born on December 7, 1940 in Stevenson, Alabama to the late George and Mary Steele. Mr. Steele was a member of the Fort Oglethorpe Church of Christ. He served in the U.S. National Guard for 6 years. He was an Iron Worker and member of the Local 704 Union.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald Steele and Ronald Steele and sister, Shirley Thomas.

Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Jimmie Steele; son, George (Lana) Duey Steele, III; daughter, Linda (Carey) Frances Steele Smith; brothers, Paul Steele, Ernest Steele and Roger Alvin Steele; sisters, Freida Lowery, Mary Evelyn McKee and Dianne Rogers; and granddaughters, Carmen Smith, Allie Steele and Audrey Smith.

Funeral services will be held 1 PM Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Minister C.G. Griffith officiating. Interment will follow in Cumberland Cemetery in Gonce, Alabama.
