George I. Maattanen, 82 of Ringgold passed away Friday May 12, 2017. Born January 30, 1935 in Finland, George immigrated to the United States in the 1950’s. He had a passion for sailing and was of the Christian faith. George was a programmer/analyst during his career.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Yrjo Johannes and Martta Maattanen and his sister, Aune Monola.

Survivors include his loving wife, Barbara J. Maattanen; son, Harry J. Maattanen, Ocoee, FL; daughter, Kim Sirpa Simpson, Clearwater, FL; grandchildren, Jonathan Simpson, Colorado and Michael Maattanen, Florida; nephew, Mikael Molona, Finland.

A memorial service will be held 2 PM Tuesday at the funeral home chapel with Pastor Eric Kennedy and Mickey Park officiating.
