G. Larry Black, 74, of Ringgold, went home to be with the Lord Thursday January 7, 2021. He was a native and lifelong resident of Ringgold. He was a son of the late William Gordon Black and Maudie Belle Wright Black. Larry was a veteran of the U.S. Airforce where he had served honorably in Okinawa Japan and South Korea. Larry was retired from Dupont after 40 years of service. He was a member at Ringgold First Baptist church. Mr. Black had served on the Ringgold City Council for 16 years, retiring after his illness. He also served the city of Ringgold as Chairman of Downtown Development and two years as Mayor-Protem. He was also a board member for the Catoosa County Chamber of Commerce. Larry was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion Post 40.
Larry loved old classic cars and traveling.
Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Cindy Gaines Black, sister-in-law Johnnie Ruth Watts, nieces and nephews Kelby (Misty) Watts, Andrea (Jason) Denson, Ashley Black Cram, great nieces and nephews Nikki Hollis, Brett Hollis, Jace Denson, Josie Denson, Lindsey Watts, and Jonathan Watts.
Graveside services will be held 1:30 PM Saturday at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South with Rev. Eric Kennedy officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ringgold First Baptist Church Building Fund.
