Freda Dobbs, 93, of Fort Oglethorpe went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 8, 2020. She was born on July 26, 1926 in Alberta, Canada to the late Fred and Hilda May. She had been a resident of Fort Oglethorpe for over 63 years and was the oldest member of Boynton Baptist Church where she was a member of the J.O.Y. Class.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 72 years, Joel Dobbs; three brothers, Maurice May, Fred May and Jim May; two sisters, Dorothy Bancroft and Olive Bayford; sister-in-law, Margaret Massey; and son-in-law, David Cooper.
Survivors include her children, Dan (Anne) Dobbs, Janet Cooper, Susan (Tommy) Henderson, Linda (Don) Powell; grandchildren, Chris (Donna) Cooper, DJ (Amanda) Dobbs, Beckie (Richmond) Truex, Russ (Laura) Henderson, Matt (Stacy) Henderson, Katie (Robert) Acosta, Jon (Sarah) Powell, Patrick (Leslie) Cooper; great-grandchildren, Tyler (Jessica) Cooper, Colton (Mallory) Cooper, Sarah Cooper, Faith Cooper, Isaac Truex, Rachel Truex, Nicki Dobbs, Roxie Dobbs, Alex Acosta, Riley Acosta, Tucker Henderson, Gage Henderson, Janie Henderson, Annie Russell, Andrew Cooper, Grace Cooper; great-great grandchildren, Garren Cooper and Anakin Cooper; along with numerous nieces and nephews; sisters, Mary Lougheed and Ruby Scott; and brothers, Bill May and Danny May.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Boynton Baptist Church.
The family would like to thank the staff at Rosewood and Tapestry Hospice.
Funeral services will be 1 PM Wednesday at Boynton Baptist Church with Dr. Keith McLeod and Pastor Patrick Cooper officiating. The body will lie-in-state an hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.
The family will receive friends 4-8 PM Tuesday at Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway.
