Tribute

Ernest “Ernie” Andrew Stephens, Jr, 84 of Ringgold went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at his home. He was born on March 23, 1939 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, a son of the late Ernest Andrew Stephens, Sr. and Myrtle Cargile Stephens. He was a member at Ridgedale Baptist Church and was retired from the Printing business after more than 38 years of service. Mr. Stephens was a member of the National Guard. Ernie was a 2-time Checker Champion of the State of Georgia and New York. He enjoyed studying history, playing the Harmonica and watching the Atlanta Braves.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenny Cargile and sisters, Jean Stephens and Wanda Vick.

Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Jan Stephens; daughters, Christie (Dusty) Harden and Sheila (Jeff) Gravitt; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday in the funeral home chapel.

The family will receive friends 5-8 PM Thursday and 11-1 PM Friday at Heritage Funeral Home & Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.
