Emmarie “Emma” Ballew McFarland, 90, formerly of Rossville, passed away in Richmond, Kentucky, Thursday, March 26, 2020.  Emma was born February 6, 1930 in Polk County, Tennessee to the late Price and Aline Davis Ballew.  Mrs. McFarland worked as a bank teller for many years in Danville and then Northwest Georgia Bank. Prior to becoming a bank teller she was the secretary at Gethsemane Baptist Church in Danville Ky and occasionally played the piano for their services.  She was a devout Christian and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church for over 30 years.  During her membership at Fairview she assisted in the operation of the church library.  She was also a member and had leadership roles in their Homemaker’s Club.  She is preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, John Buie McFarland; brothers, Moses Ballew and Rev. Stinnett Ballew; sisters, Maxine Humberd, Arlene Barnes, Geneva Walker, Linda Ballew and Sandra Yarbrough.

Survivors are her daughters and sons-in-laws, Rose (Bob) Heyer, Richmond, KY and Joni (Hicks) Snowden, Lexington, KY; brother, Wallace Ballew, Cleveland, TN; sisters, Naomi Patterson, Old Fort, TN, Jeanette Casteel, Knoxville, TN, and Ann Smith, Cleveland, TN; grandchildren, Keri Heyer, Lori Heyer, Rob (Brittany) Heyer, Kelly Heyer, and Alina Snowden; great-grandchildren, Xavier and Cecilia Strothman, Karter and Kolton Heyer and many sisters and brothers in law as well as nieces and nephews.

Funeral services honoring the life of Emmarie McFarland will be private with Rev. Jim Bennett officiating.  Interment will be at Tennessee Georgia Memorial Park.
