Edward Monroe Cooper III

Edward Monroe Cooper III, 83, of Cary, North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on July 17, 2021.  Edward was born in Nashville, Tennessee on May 8, 1938 to the late Emily Cheek and Edward Monroe Cooper Jr. where they lived in the Old Hickory community. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Edward “Eddie” Monroe Cooper IV, stepmother, Harriet Babcock Campbell Cooper, and stepbrother, Samuel H. Campbell III. 

Edward leaves behind a stepsister, Harriet “Babbie” Cameron (Stuart).  Edward also leaves behind his children, Karin “Ellen” Cooper Viox (Lloyd “V”), Andrew Dale Cooper, and Emily Anne Clark (Lee); 5 grandchildren, David Rhodes (Ericka), Erik Rhodes, Keeghan Cooper, Grace Viox, and Isaac Cooper.

Edward attended McCallie School and later graduated with an electrical engineering degree from Vanderbilt University. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy for 8 years.  Among his employers were NASA, Rockwell International, SVERDRUP, and the U.S. Air Force.  Edward maintained a private pilot’s license and enjoyed flying as a hobby early in his life.  His hobbies also included photography, riding motorcycles, reading, and listening to operas and classical music. Above all, Edward counted his Christian faith and caring for people as most important and, toward the end of his life, he especially looked forward to being with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

A graveside service will be held 2:30 PM Saturday at Forest Hills Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 12-2 PM Saturday at Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.
