It is precious what the Lord can do in a life. So pretty and pure life is a blessing. I praise the lord for you, the family, what a lovely ministry, lovely couple Mrs Norma and Mr Winget. They leave me an encourage example to go on. Thank you lord for these beautiful people.

I do not have many hero's in this life, but Mr. Winget was a person who influenced my life and thinking and ministry probably more than any other human being. I started the church I pastor 37 years ago and I do not believe that there is a week that goes by that I do not use a truth or a thought or a concept or a teaching technique that I learned from him. I had a Bible study with a few people this evening and used the thought shared by Bro. Domrese that I learned from Mr. Winget that all cults deny one of two things about Jesus Christ -- who He is or what He did. I still review regularly the verses he had us memorize. I am sure that my ministry would not have been nearly as fruitful or that I would have been as confident in my understanding if I had not been influenced by him. The church I pastor is called "Truth Baptist Church" largely because of the love of truth Mr. Winget instilled in my heart.

I too am a former student of Dr. David Winget whom I greatly admired and appreciated for his teaching and the approachable professor that he was. I have served now, along with my wife Glenda (Morgan) Stetson, as a missionary in France for nearly 34 years, and I thank God for all the blessings received by the faithful teaching of Dr. Winget, Dr. James D. Price, and other great teachers at Temple Baptist Seminary (1976-1980).

Dr. Winget must have been a great example as a husband and father, as well, for both we and a small part of the world have been blessed by his family to whom Glenda and I express our deep sympathy.

His life goes on here below through many for whom he was a pastor or teacher, and through friends and family. I will look forward even more now to reading the book which details so many interesting details of his life. The French type of beret hat he wore endears his memory even more to me, for I've grown to love the French people I've known for so many years.

To the family: I took an MDiv in Theology under your father in 1978-80 specifically so that I could take all of his classes. His careful exegesis of the Scripture in the original languages was an inspiration to me. I count your father along with James D. Price and Ozwald Summers to be the greatest influences in my Christian life. My fondest memory of your father was hearing him say in his Christology class, "It is all because of who He is and what He did." It brought tears to my eyes then and still does today. Your father's love for Christ continues on through his students..

i am always very touched, and saddened, to learn of the home-going of a faithful servant of Christ, yet grateful for his, or her, ministry.
Though I did not know Dr. Winget personally, from the preceding comments, there is the portrait of a gentlemanly, and scholarly, teacher of the depths of scripture, who sought to motivate that same diligent commitment in his students.
His life even speaks to me, because, on today - my 71st birthday - I was already contemplating new ways to engage in lay ministry, in whatever time remains for me. His legacy now inspires me to more diligently pursue that.

I shall always be profoundly grateful for the influence of Dr. David Winget. He shaped my theological values, equipped me for a ministry of expository preaching and he set a gracious example of humility and worshipful service for the Lord Jesus.

His teaching in theology helped me appreciate the sovereignty of God, the authority of scripture, and the blessed hope of the imminent return of our Lord. I always felt I was given a good foundation for life and ministry because of his theological influence.

His rigorous instruction in Greek exegesis gave me a foundational understanding of how to study the Greek text of the NT. I learned more about expository teaching in his Greek classes than in homiletics classes!

His prayers at the beginning of class were models of deep reverence. He expressed thoughts in his prayers to God that magnified the greatness and transcendence of God, as well as his Fatherly interest in our concerns as students. I was impressed that in prayer Dr Winget would often express thanks for the biblical scholars who had preceded us in time so that we through their writings could understand and apply God's truth.

I regret I did not seek out opportunities to maintain communication with him in later life. I was certainly not his most promising student, but I hope by the grace of God I have put to good use the sound teaching and godly example he provided for his students.

Connie and I are in prayer for your family in this experience of separation. Thank God it is temporary.

From 1969-1970 while attending Tennessee Temple College and until graduation, we attended a small church, a chapel of Highland Park Baptist Church, pastored by David Winget. We appreciated his thoughtful, gracious, and effective ministry of the Word. He always was kind and gracious, manifesting the fruit of the Spirit in his interactions with the flock, most of us being poor college students. Such a life and such ministry will be missed here on earth, but we rejoice that Dave now is in his heavenly home with our Savior.

To all family and friends of Dr. David Winget,
Oh how I thank God for the wonderful teaching that I and my fellow students at TTU Seminary (75-80) received from this dear faithful servant of Christ. The memory verses we learned, the truths we rejoiced over, and the passion of this man have energized the preaching of many pastors throughout America and the world. Tears of joy both outwardly and inwardly course through my soul as I recall this fabulous soul.

Steve, David, Joy, and "Fly",
The memory of your father (and mother) are so sweet to me. I attended Foust Chapel all 4 years while at TTU and remember those days so fondly. The impact of your dad on my life was significant and live changing. He was a man who loved his Lord, loved his family, knew the Bible, and loved people. I wish I lived closer and could have attended his services. Know that his impact was deep and lasting on my life.

Dear Winget Family:

I am a 2002 graduate of Temple Baptist Seminary, and I had the blessed privilege of sitting under Dr. Winget for one course.

Steve and Dave, I actually attended Bible college with Jason and Adele Rice, and I wanted so badly to meet you all in person and share my memories of your Dad. I am disabled, and do not have a driver's license, and I tried hard to find a ride, but no one could help.

Dr. Barkev Trachian insisted that I take one graduate level theology course, as several classes transferred from my Northland degree. I was very frustrated, but I signed up for your Dad's soteriology class. I have never been so challenged in my Scripture memory in my life, and I really struggled in the class.

But despite that, I will always remember his passion for the Word of God, and his love of hymns and how they spoke of God's love. I do have memories of "O Sweet Wonder," but they didn't come back until I heard people talk about it.

He knew what he believed and why he believed it, and that's what made him an awesome teacher. Theology came alive with him, and he was consumed with the desire to communicate clearly for all! I was blessed to know him, and I pray for the Lord's grace as you begin life without him in it. What a blessed hope we have in heaven. Praying God's grace to all at this time.
