Dorothy Gilbert

Dorothy “Dot” Louise Gilbert 89, of Rossville, went home to be with the Lord Monday, September 4, 2023.  She was born in South Pittsburg, TN, on September 7, 1933, a daughter of the late William Melvin and Mary Novella Martin Levan.  Dot  lived most of her life in the North Georgia area and was a member of The Boynton United Methodist Church.  Mrs. Gilbert was retired from Combustion Engineering after several years of service.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband. Rev Robert “Bob” Gilbert; brothers Lawrence Levan, Robert I. Levan, James Elbert and a sister Lucille Allen.

Survivors are sons, James (Juanita) Gilbert of Tellico Plains, Stuart (Debbie) Gilbert and Alan Gilbert all of Fort Oglethorpe.  10 grandchildren Chriss Gilbert, Jeff Gilbert, Julie Parks, Shaun Gilbert, Zack Smartt, T,J. Gilbert, Jeremy Gilbert, Corey Gilbert, Stacia Cline and Brittany Schlichting. And 20 great grandchildren.

A service honoring the life of Mrs. Gilbert will be held 2 PM Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Larry Earl officiating.

Entombment will be conducted 10 AM Friday at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4-8 PM at Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.
