Doris "Jean" Edwards

Doris “Jean” Edwards, 90, of Rossville went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 13, 2023 at her home with her children by her side. She was born on October 29, 1933 to the late Lester and Edith Chambers. Jean was a life-long member of Philadelphia Baptist Church and was the church nursery worker for many years. After graduating from McCaysville Georgia High School in 1951 she moved to Chattanooga where she was employed by Olan Mills Studios. She returned to retail work at Proffits, after raising her family, where she retired after 20 years of service. She then worked at Kingwood Pharmacy for another 20 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Arthur Edwards; sisters, Verna Batchelder, Amy Mikels, Greta Brown; brothers, G. L.,  Kenneth, J. D. and Ray.

Survivors include her daughter, Diane (Ricky) Nix; sons, David (Lorie) Edwards and Daniel (Kellie) Edwards; grandsons, Eric (Madison) Edwards, Landon (Mary) Edwards; step-grandson, Brennan Cantrell; great-grandson, Hayes Arthur Edwards and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. David Stancil officiating. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hearth Hospice.

The family will receive friends 4-8 PM Thursday at Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway.
