Dean Stephens

Jewell “Dean” Stephens, 94, of Ft. Oglethorpe, passed away peacefully June 9, 2020. Dean was a lifelong resident of North Georgia, and a member of Lakeview First Baptist Church, serving faithfully as a teacher and a leader in the Sunshiners. She was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class.
 
Dean was preceded in death by her husband Stewart G. Stephens, brothers Fred Nichols and Ralph Nichols, and sister Audie Lee Sloan.
 
She is survived by her daughter Sandra (Robert) Purcell of Chattanooga, grand-children Deana (Dan) Burelle and Robert L “Chip” (Erica) Purcell, and great-grandchildren Anslee McGlocklin, Will Purcell, and Brittany Portwood.
 
Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Patrick Cooper officiating.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lakeview First Baptist Church, 10 Hudson Street, Rossville, GA 30741.
 
Interment in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.
 
The family will receive friends 4-8 PM Thursday at Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway. Social distancing will be observed.
