Curtis Lee Daugaard

April 12, 1952 ~ October 9, 2021 (age 69) 69 Years Old

Tribute

Curtis Lee Daugaard, recently of Ringgold, GA and formerly of Elgin, IL, quietly passed into his heavenly home on October 9, 2021, following a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Curtis was born in April of 1952 to Clarence Anton Daugaard and Violet Melby Daugaard in Minneapolis, MN.

Curt was thoughtful, gracious, generous, and faithful. He had a brilliant mind and appreciated an extensive range of literature, poetry, and music. He was a talented musician – a guitarist, a pianist, a singer, and an avid whistler. He also possessed a playful, deadpan wit, most notably in delivering his devastating puns. Curt delighted in the beauty of God’s creation, and he was especially fond of dogs.

Curt became a follower of Jesus Christ while serving in the United States Navy. After his military service, he completed the following educational degrees with highest honors: Bachelor of Arts from Columbia International University, Master of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and Doctor of Philosophy from Boston University. Professionally, Curt was pastor, college professor, and Technical Specialist in computer programming. He devoted his gifts to the glory of God and was valued by many in his service to church and community – in church leadership and teaching, in music ministries, and in support of neighborhood and community projects.

Curt was a beloved man and was treasured by his whole family. He is survived by his wife, Amy (Chambers) Daugaard; two children, Lydia Mayberry (Seth), and Timothy Daugaard; brother Dennis Daugaard (Patricia); nephew Michael Daugaard (Marni); and grandson Henry Mayberry. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Many were influenced by Curt's life, and he was greatly loved by his friends. He will be sorely missed!

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, November 5th, 2021 at Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
