Carol J. Zitzow

Carol Zitzow of Signal Mountain died Wednesday, June 20th, 2018 after fighting a courageous battle against cancer for the past five years. To the time of her death she was active in the Chattanooga Bike Club and not long ago was still participating in bike trips. She was also a long time member of the Tennessee Valley Canoe Club participating in canoe trips and serving as a canoe and sea kayaking instructor. After raising three boys to their teenage years, she went back to school to earn a nursing degree and for the next 15 years served as an RN in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at Erlanger Hospital. Gardening remained her favorite hobby. She is survived by her husband, Uwe Zitzow and their three sons, Eric, Kevin and Mark, grandchildren Adam, Lucas and Ellen, and her sister and good friend Susie Sutton.

The family will hold a celebration of Carol's life on Saturday, June 30 at 5 PM at the River's Inn located at 2130 Suck Creek Rd, Chattanooga, TN.  It will be an informal gathering of friends and family to reminisce and honor the life of the girl everyone loved.  Bring your stories and remembrances to share.  Email your photos or short video clips of her to be shared in a slideshow to carolmemories@ericzitzow.com.  Food and drinks will be served.  Also, if you like, please bring a covered dish or finger food.  Dress casually and suitably for summer weather.  Preceding the event, there will be a short group canoe float on the Tennessee River ending at the venue.  If you would like to join, please inquire at the email address above.
