Dr. Carol Brand, 73, of Ringgold passed away on April 20, 2021. She was born in Atlanta to the late Frederick J and Catherine W Baumgartner. She is preceded in death by her brother, Fred Baumgartner II. Carol’s passion for education came through in every aspect of her life. She dedicated 50 years to the education system of our community.
She started her career with her love of teaching students with special needs in Atlanta. She moved and started teaching first grade in Ringgold in 1976. She then was promoted to Special Ed Director for several years, but most of the community know her as principal of Ringgold Elementary and Ringgold Primary schools. She was involved in the building of both schools throughout her tenure. She at last fulfilled her dream as a professor for both Dalton and UTC. She touched so many lives throughout her career.
She also loved her church, Saint Paul’s Episcopal. However, her greatest love was her family. Her beloved husband Vic, daughters Amy and Katy, stepdaughters Krishna and Lindsay and all 8 grandchildren, Austin, Brady, Sarah Kate, Luke, Madeline, Julia, Boone and Van will miss her loving and genuine spirit dearly.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions a private memorial service will be held for immediate family only.
The family will receive friends 5-8 PM Friday, May 7th, 2021 at Heritage Funeral Home & Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.
