Carol Sue Andrews

June 1, 1949 ~ April 14, 2022 (age 72)

Tribute

Carol Sue Andrews was born June 1, 1949 in Pottsville, PA. and passed away at 72 on April 14, 2022. Carol grew up on Signal Mtn, TN in a family of 5 children, where our loving Heavenly Father was exalted in all the family did, and she accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age. As a child she showed compassion and care for others to the point of physically being hurt to help another child at risk. Creatively she helped one of her brothers in a few seconds showing him how to build with play blocks and thereby setting him on a course to later become an architect! She graduated from City High School at the top of her class and later had short stints at studying nursing and attending college before marrying Steve Yarbrough and residing in Oklahoma. Her life changed after having mental issues- a very tough life ensued including moving back with her loving parents in Rock Spring, Ga for a season. Eventually that led to care in various nursing homes, but in those environments she continued to care for the clients and staff by befriending them in many ways- especially those who seemed to have no one else that cared. She was a special ray of hope and light in an often difficult environment, and her bright, beautiful outfits and adornments, primarily from Good Will, brought happy smiles to all. When her parents finally joined her at the nursing home she was especially helpful in assisting them and took pride in the fact that she had that privileged time to give back to them. Carol was a giver of all she had. Her happy paintings, scripture cards and visits to the less fortunate will always be remembered. It is amazing that one who endured one of the toughest life challenges of psychological pain could be so positive and smiling and helpful to others. We will miss her genuine love for all- one who did not have much, but gave all she had. What love!

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Bennett and Jane Andrews, and son Johnathan Yarbrough.

She is survived by her Daughter, Regina (Matthew) Downing of Decorah, IA; Brothers, Ross (Pamela) Andrews of Ringgold GA; David (Mary Beth) Andrews of Hamilton, VA; Tim (Terry) Andrews of Kenya; Tom Andrews of San Diego, CA; Grandchildren: Simone and Charles Downing of Decorah, IA; as well as many loving nieces, nephews and their families.

The family would like to thank Pruitt Health Shepherd Hills Nursing home staff for their amazing love and attentive care of Carol and indeed of her Mother and Father before her. Also a special thanks is extended to Janice Graham and Wade Wheeler, faithful lifetime friends who kept visiting her to the very end.
