Tribute

Carl Luie White, 87, of Ringgold, passed away peacefully October 19, 2020, at his home surrounded by family. Carl was born June 6, 1933, to John and Mary White. He was married 62 years to the love of his life, Sarah Rucks White. After serving in the U.S. Army, Carl was employed in the textile industry; retiring from Borg Textiles and founding SpinTech Industries. He loved sports and played basketball for the Army and at the semi-pro level for the Peerless Woolens. Regardless of the location, he never missed a game played by his grandchildren or great grandchildren. Carl loved his family, golf and trips to the beach, and he was known for his humble, kind, and caring nature that made everyone around him feel loved and supported. He was a member of Fort Oglethorpe United Methodist Church, where he served in several leadership positions and was a member of the Friendship Sunday School class.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Rucks White; daughters Carla (Scott) Elrod and Belinda (Alan) Crisman; grandchildren Haley Brown, Ty Brown, Dustin Elrod, and Emily (Nathan) Gebele; great grandchildren Leland Elrod, Emmett Elrod, and Hayden Craft; brother Eugene (Vera) White; and sisters-in-law Doris White and Gay Elrod. He was preceded in death by his brother Hoyt White, sister Lora D. Swancey, nephew Bill White, and grandson Wesley Crisman.

The family would like to thank the Chattanooga Hospice South team, including Crystal Miller, Carol Peace and Susan Tadle; as well as Dr. Larry Schlabach, Lori Hill, and staff.

Because of the pandemic, the service at Chattanooga National Cemetery will be private.
