Buddy M. D. Fugate, 81, of Ringgold, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, May 25, 2019. Buddy was born February 19, 1938, in Rhea Springs, TN, to the late T.O. and Elora Fugate. Buddy graduated from Red Bank High School and was a veteran of the Tennessee Air National Guard. In his youth he was a drag racer then went on to become a machinist for high-performance engines. He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. Buddy worked at Combustion Engineering as a draftsman and in 2000 retired from Fugate Automotive. Buddy loved going to dirt-track races and RVing across America. Mr. Fugate is preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Glynda “Sue” Fugate; son, Lance Fugate; sister, Eleanor Parris; and granddaughter, Cassie Clements.
Survivors are his wife of 15 years Barbara Fugate; daughters, Kim (David) Bennett, Cindy (Charlie) Clements; son, Shane Hatfield; sister, Peggy Land, Arkansas; grandchildren, Bailey (Justin) Watson, Christy (Matt) Beach, Chas (Cyndi) Clements, Cody Clements, Chelsea Honkonen, Autumn Hatfield (Tyler Harvey), Amber Hatfield, and Briston Hatfield, Shoni (Joseph) Cooper, Tempe, Lauren, & Kole Fugate; great-grandchildren, Kenley Watson, Arden & Brock Beach, Colin & Camila Clements, Easton & Zander Harvey, and Abby Cooper; and several nieces and nephews.
Services celebrating the life of Buddy Fugate will take place 1 PM, Thursday, in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.
