Buddy Byrd

Ralph Leon “Buddy “ Byrd 94, of Chattanooga went home to be with the Lord, Friday March 8, 2024.

Buddy was a 1946 graduate of Lakeview High School and a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during Korean War.  Mr. Byrd enjoyed studying the Word of God with over seven years of Bible college instruction.

Buddy and his late brother Rev. Lee Byrd were the former owners B&B Hardware of Rossville and Byrd’s Auto Alignment in Chattanooga for many years.

After retirement Buddy went to work with Ross C. Lane at Lane Funeral Home in Rossville and Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd and then Hamilton Funeral Home, Chattanooga.  Buddy had a true servant’s heart.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Christine Byrd and son Eddie Byrd.

Survivors are his daughter, Karen Jacobs and son, Dewayne Byrd, grandson Tyler Byrd, granddaughter Brittany Greenway, and great-grandchildren, Elijah, Jaxon, Tucker Jace, and Sarah Grace Shullaw.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Rev. Roger DeHart officiating.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 pm Tuesday at Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.
