Welcome to the memorial page for

Blanche Treakle Denniston

June 15, 2017

Mrs. Blanche Treakle Denniston died peacefully in Gainesville, Georgia on June 15, 2017.

She is survived by her daughter, Terry Denniston of Chattanooga, Tennessee; her son, Browder Denniston (Diane) of Gainesville, Georgia and her granddaughters, Madison Ross (Justin) of Braselton, Georgia; Nicole Denniston of Gainesville, Georgia and Tiffany Page of Tucker, Georgia.

Blanche was born in Norfolk, Virginia to Henry Talmage Treakle and Lala Bennett Treakle. She is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband and high school sweetheart, Lee Horton; her loving husband Kenneth Denniston and her two sisters, Helen Horton Bratton (David) and Peggy Horton Browder (Buster).

Blanche’s age is not listed because her answer to “how old are you” was always “you do not ask Virginia women their age.” In fact, as recent as two weeks ago that was her answer to the Hospice medical team.

Blanche was an avid sports fan following numerous NBA, NFL and collegiate teams. Her ability to name players and stats could rival any sportscaster. She was a faithful follower of the Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Falcons but the number one team that had her heart was the Tennessee Vols. More often than not she was dressed in orange- something she loved to do living in the heart of Georgia.

Blanche requested to be cremated and there will be no services.  The family would like to thank Homestead Hospice in Gainesville for their excellent care as well as the staff at The Gardens of Gainesville who provided loving care to our mother. The family appreciates your prayers and condolences. Memorials can be given to a cancer research facility of your choice.  Visit www.heritagebattlefield.com to share condolences with the family.
