Bimol Poole (93) passed away on May 3, 2022. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara and son, Steve. He is survived by his 3 daughters: Kim Armstrong (Doug Swafford), Beth McDonald (Rodney), Laura Parrish (Scott) and his daughter-in-law, Rosie Poole as well as 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Poole was born in Florence, Alabama and graduated from Coffee High School. He then attended Florence State University (now UNA) where he graduated with degrees in Biology and Physical Education in 1955. He also played football at Florence State. Upon graduation, he was offered a contract to play for the Chicago Bears. Instead, he became a high school teacher and football coach. He ultimately moved to North Georgia in 1965, where he taught and coached at Lakeview High School until 1972. Later that year, he accepted a job at East Ridge Middle School where he also taught and coached until his retirement in 1993. He was a longtime member of Fort Oglethorpe First Baptist Church.
In Mr. Poole’s younger years, he loved to travel, play tennis and spend time with his grandchildren. For those who knew him well, he was mild mannered and kind.
A memorial service will be held at Fort Oglethorpe First Baptist Church on Saturday, May 7, with visitation beginning at 1:00 followed by a service at 2:00.
