Bill W. Travis

John W. (Bill) Travis, 86, of Ft. Oglethorpe, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, April 28, 2021. He was a lifelong resident of North Georgia, and was of the Baptist faith. Bill retired from Western Union after 35+ years of service. He enjoyed yard work, fishing, playing cards, vacationing in Florida, playing the weekly lotto, and keeping his grand-dog Sammie.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Frances “Brown” Travis, daughter Linda Whaley, and grandson Jody Whaley.

Survivors include daughter Pat (Richard) Wilson, grandchildren Michelle (David) Boyd, Missy (Kirk) Gabe, Jeff (Sheri) Whaley, and Wendy (Barry) Kuykendall, seven great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM Monday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jim Bennett officiating.

Interment will be in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.
