Barbara Jean Peters Schild, 84, of Rossville,  went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ  Friday, January 19, 2018 at her residence.  She was a retired accountant and a member of Temple Baptist Church.  She was a graduate of Lakeview High School, class of 1951.  She served faithfully as a Pastor’s wife, Sunday School teacher,  pianist, organist and mentor to many for 61 years by her husband’s side. 

     She was preceded in death by her parents:  Ernest and Ella Burns Peters;  her husband of 58 years:  Rev. Thomas Schild;  daughter:  Faye Lewis;  sisters:  Gladys Mayes, Lois Brock, and Ruth McGowen and one stillborn sister:  Ella Mae Peters;  brothers:  Raymond, Harold, Clyde, Alvin, and Kenneth Peters.

     She is survived by her son:  Steve (Tammy)  Schild, Sr., Rossville, and a brother:  Stuman (Barbara) Peters, Ringgold, and 4 grandchildren:  Kevin (Amanda) Myers,  Greg (Melanie) Myers, Bethany Schild and Steven (Morgan) Schild, Jr., and 7 great-grandchildren:  Elaina, Mark, Sarah Kate, Madelyn, Jaedon, Sophie and Sadie, and several nieces and nephews.

     The body will lie in state Tuesday,  January 23, 2018 at Temple Baptist Church from  11AM – Noon  followed by Funeral Services  at 12:00 Noon      with Rev. Jim Rushing,  Rev. A. C. Durham, and Rev. Luther Eslinger officiating.  Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
